Junior Judging Competition

 

The Junior Livestock Judging Contest will be held Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. The contest is open to students who are current 4H/FFA members; college or post-secondary education students are not eligible.

This is a team competition ONLY. A team consists of four individuals meeting the above requirements. All four team members' scores will be counted toward the team score. No FFA Chapter or county 4H may enter more than two teams, or a total of eight judges, in Saturday's contest.

An entry fee of $20 per team must accompany the pre-registration form, which can be downloaded here. Make checks payable to the Sioux Empire Farm Show, PO Box 1425, Sioux Falls, SD 57101-1425. ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY FRIDAY, JAN. 18, 2013. Teams not pre-registered will not be allowed to judge. Substitutes on pre-registered teams will be accepted the day of the contest. Entry fee is non-refundable. SATURDAY check in time is from 8-9:45 a.m. The contest starts at 10 a.m. SHARP.

Classes to be judged include: four classes of cattle, two classes of swine, and two classes of sheep and goats. The Sioux Empire Farm Show reserves the right to alter classes depending on the availability of livestock. Contestants will be allowed eight minutes to judge each class. One class will be selected to break ties.

Winners will be announced and awards presented at 1:30 p.m. in the Expo Building Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013. Awards will be given to the top 10 teams and top 10 individuals.
